While football clubs have a reputation for training ground car parks full of exotic sports cars andgas-guzzling 4x4s – Forest Green Rovers in Gloucestershire are trialling theuse of 11 electric cars in an effort to slash carbon emissions by over 80 percent.

Gary began by talking about how his experiences of building his own houses during his early 20s had made him aware of the need to move to more sustainable construction practices.

Not many football fans will have been to a stadium with orchids growing in the grounds, a wild flower development program, an organic pitch or an owl roosting in the roof of the grandstand – but then not many stadia have the green credentials of The New Lawn, home of Forest Green Rovers.

Forest Green Rovers will tackle a Manchester United XI in a preseason game at The New Lawn stadium in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire on Sunday 5th August.
